The go-ahead has been given to build 49 new affordable homes in Livingston.A planning application for the new flats at Sydney Street in Craigshill from developer Cruden Homes has been given the green light.Agents for Cruden, JM Architects, said the company aims to create the new one and two bedroom flats while being sensitive to the existing area. The scheme aims to promote the use of the readily accessible public transport links along Craigshill Road and incorporates cycle storage within the development.

An adequate allowance for parking spaces has been made to ensure there is an appropriate level for the development. They continued: “The site is within an ideal area for housing due to its proximity to commercial facilities, schools, community facilities and open green spaces (primarily Almond Park).“The adjacent residential properties are of varying scales and density.

The site is well located to take advantage of existing local amenities and the public transport network along Craigshill Road and the A899.“A train station at nearby Uphall offers a reliable service to Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Craigshill is also well located for use of St John’s Hospital, which is a five minute drive away.” Don't miss the latest news from the West Lothian Courier.
