Former Motherwell striker Kevin van Veen has left Holland to return to Scotland for "an indefinite period" to help his pregnant girlfriend as they prepare for the birth of their first child, Groningen have confirmed. The move comes amid heavy speculation of a loan return to the Premiership for a striker who scored 29 goals last season, before making a reputed £500,000 switch to the Netherlands.Van Veen admitted he has had a bust-up with Groningen boss Dick Lukkien, and suggested a loan move in January might suit all parties.Groningen posted today on social media: "Van Veen to Scotland for upcoming fatherhood."The striker is leaving today for an indefinite period back to Scotland and will assist his heavily pregnant girlfriend during the birth."Although Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell says he remains in regular contact with van Veen, he insists they haven't yet spoken about a return to Fir Park, and says that would come down to money in any case.Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onX via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
