Paisley postcode red flagged as one of worst in Scotland for attacks on ambulance crews

A Paisley postcode is the fourth highest ‘red flag’ address in the country – deemed too dangerous for ambulance crews to attend without police back-up.

The town’s PA1 postcode was only beaten by addresses in Edinburgh and Ayrshire.The shaming statistics were revealed following a Freedom of Information request by justice and social affairs publication 1919 Magazine.The damning report shows the scale of violence directed towards NHS paramedics and have sparked calls for better protection for 999 crews.However, concerns have been raised about whether police will be able to continue supporting the vital workers amid a staffing shortage.Renfrewshire Conservative MSP Russell Findlay has backed concerns from the Scottish Police Federation.
