Keir Starmer promises 35 new bills including new legislation to 'hand power back' to regions like Manchester

The new Labour government is working on more than 35 new bills set to be unveiled in the King's speech at the state opening of Parliament on Wednesday, with the primary aim of delivering growth for the UK.

It will include a new law to 'hand the power 'back to the regions and a strengthening of the role of the Office of Budget Responsibility, to prevent events like the Tory government's disastrous mini budget of September 2022 which attempted to bypass the official watchdog to pass £45bn of unfunded tax cuts.
