Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said rioters who 'hijacked' a peaceful vigil would 'feel the full force of the law' after violence flared and police were attacked in Southport last night.

Three young girls - Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven - died after a knifeman walked into a Taylor Swift-themed holiday club and attacked those inside on Monday morning.

Eight other children suffered stab wounds during the attack - with a number of them said to remain in a critical condition in hospital.

Two adults were also injured 'bravely' trying to save children. One is said to be fighting for her life. Violence flared on the streets after police said a large group believed to be linked to the English Defence League attacked a mosque just hours after a vigil was held for the victims, their families - and the community.
