Terminally ill TV star Jonnie Irwin was treated to an afternoon of cricket with a bunch of pals this week. Famed for presenting Channel 4's holiday home programme A Place in the Sun, the 49 year old dad-of-three announced his lung cancer diagnosis in November 2020, but that hasn't stopped Jonnie from living life to the fullest.

Uploading a selection of snaps from his time down at London's The Oval, where the Surrey squad played Yorkshire, he wrote on Instagram: "Had the best day in awesome company thanks to @ryansidebottom_official and @engagegroup_uk who made the whole experience a massive highlight of my summer." His enjoyment was mirrored back to him in the comment column, as Jonnie's fans piled in with messages of warmth and sincerity. "You're looking better every day, Jonnie!", "Awww Jonnie you look good, hope your day was enjoyable too", "Great you had fun for yourself, keep strong Jonnie, thousands of people walking with you", "Looking good Jonnie.

So great seeing your lovely smile" and "You are just one walking, talking and smiling inspiration," read five of them. Despite the soul-destroying cancer situation, the good times are clearly rolling for the Irwin family, as just last weekend he and wife Jessica took their three young boys Rex, Rafa and Cormac out to a monster truck event.

Jonnie captioned a handful of photos from their time there: "Been pretty unwell this past week but felt better this morning, so headed off to watch some monster trucks.
