Jet2 issues update to people heading to Rhodes on holiday in August

Jet2 has issued an update to holidaymakers who are booked to travel to Rhodes in August. The airline had cancelled all flights and holidays to the island, up to and including Sunday 30 July, as huge wildfires continue to rage.

Temperatures of over 40C have led to an outbreak of fires - leading to the evacuation of more than 20,000 people. In a new update issued on Wednesday, the airline said it had operated 20 flights to the UK from Rhodes so far this week – a combination of repatriation flights and scheduled flights. Jet2 also issued advice to people who have holidays and flights booked to the island from July 31 onwards - and confirmed more holidays to certain parts of the island have had to be cancelled.

In a statement, they said: Northern Rhodes For customers due to travel to the north of Rhodes from Monday July 31 onwards, hotels, villas, and resorts are operating as normal.

Customers due to travel to the following resorts will still have their holidays as flights as normal. Lardos, Lindos, Kalathos and Pefkos Jet2 sais teams have visited every single one of their hotels and villas in these resorts and say that operations are normal from Monday July 31. Gennadi, Kiotari and Lachania Jet2 has cancelled all holidays up to and including Sunday August 13 to these parts of the island.
