Ivanka Trump’s Downfall Is Looking a Lot Like Shiv Roy’s
glamour.com, I’ve found myself reminded, unexpectedly, of Ivanka Trump. In that last confrontation between Logan and the siblings in the karaoke bar, Shiv calls her father, “a human fucking gaslight,” and it has me wondering what was said during the had with her father the night before on April 5.
For all their character differences (for instance, one is fiction and one is not), Shiv and Ivanka have had similar arcs. Battling two morally-unencumbered brothers for power drove Shiv (Sarah Snook) to ever lower depths over two and a half seasons on the show, before she achieved peak debasement as the female face Logan (Brian Cox) needed to lead the company through a sexual abuse scandal.
But all that striving for a mercurial father’s respect and affection left Shiv holding nothing in her hand but a failed marriage and a tattered reputation.
Ivanka was once widely viewed as the most likely candidate of the former president’s children to , perhaps in part because she was so adept at offsetting her father’s misogyny simply by being a woman in his close proximity.
