Denise Welch has had to confirm that she's "alive and well" after a nasty social media hoax claimed she had passed away.The Loose Women panellist, 65, took to X, previously known as Twitter, to reassure her 557k followers that she was not dead after a rumour began spreading on social media.

An anonymous internet user had updated Denise's Wikipedia page with flash information, claiming that she had been tragically killed by a mobility scooter driven by former Big Brother star Farida Kalifah.

A second edit then claimed that the former Waterloo Road star had died from "explosive diarrhoea", reports the Daily Mirror.

Quick to squash the rumours, Denise, who is set to portray the late Queen Elizabeth II in Diana the Musical, wrote: "I'm alive and well and about to watch the jungle.Thanks for your concern." Replying to Denise, a number of fans shared their disgust at the hoax, with one writing: "There should be a law against this kind of hoax death stuff online , Imagine if a family remember of Denise’s read it?" "How cruel can some people be!
