A passenger who missed his flight when he realised he had lost his passport was left ‘stranded’ in an airport for three hours.Tom Solan has received an apology from easyJet who blamed their staff’s heavy workload for failing to provide better assistance. The 52-year-old only realised when he got to the gate at Terminal 1 in Manchester Airport for his flight to Cyprus that his passport was missing. The English teacher, who lives in Malaga, Spain, missed the Hogmanay departure and lost his holiday which had cost 1000 Euros.Tom said he was told by an airline rep to head to another gate where another official would escort him out the building without his travel document. But he said help never arrived and it even led him to call the police in desperation.Tom described how he feared his diabetes would flare up amid the stress of trying to contact someone from easyJet to secure his escape. In the end, Tom managed to contact the airline’s ground handling agent who sent an official to assist him.
He left the terminal after a three-hour wait. Tom told the Manchester Evening News : “I was about to board at 1.05pm and I knew I would need my passport but I could not find it.
