A 15-year-old girl is urging people to "trust your gut instinct" after an "unbearable" itch initially thought to be an allergic reaction turned out to be cancer.

Deborah Connell, 48, and her husband Brian, 65, are legal guardians for their 15-year-old granddaughter Niamh – a “stunning” and “healthy girl” who loves all things beauty-related.

In June, Niamh developed a “constant itch” all over her body, which at first the family believed was related to an allergy or intolerance.

She was asked by her GP to keep a diary of her food and beauty products in a bid to determine what it could be.
