It might be Erik ten Hag by name and ten by number as we seek an answer to how his new look Manchester United will look. The Dutchman is gearing up for his second season in charge after a successful summer which has seen the arrivals of Andre Onana, Mason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund across three key positions.
Coupled with the additions of 12 months ago and the United vintage of 2023-24 is very much Ten Hag's team. Half a dozen of the first choice starting line up are his buys and with a ball-playing keeper and a new attacking focal point, there will be a refinement in playing style more in tune with what the manager wants.
It won't happen instantly, particularly given Hojlund will be an injury absence for the opening weeks. But by the 10 game mark we should be in a position to accurately judge Ten Hag's new look team and whether they can build on last season's positives and turn previous weaknesses into strengths.
United's opener with Wolves looks a home banker given the Molineux men have endured a troubled pre-season with uncertainty around manager Julen Lopetegui's future and financial concerns.
