HMRC to pay thousands of delayed child benefit payments 'by 1pm'

Around half a million individuals are set to receive their postponed Child Benefit payments today following an HMRC system error earlier in the week.

On Monday, HMRC, which manages Child Benefit, acknowledged that a technical hiccup had resulted in 500,000 people missing out on their payments.

The tax authority later announced that the problem was fixed and that the outstanding payments would be processed by Wednesday, June 5.

HMRC updated this morning via a post on X, stating that the Child Benefit funds from Monday should hit bank accounts by 1pm today.
