When the Dutchman arrived at United, there were high expectations that he would be a game-changer for the Reds. In his last season in the Eredivisie with PSV Eindhoven, Memphis bagged 22 goals from 30 appearances operating solely as a left winger.
However, when he was played in the same position for United things just did not click for him. Over the course of 53 appearances, he managed just seven goals and five assists for the club and was ultimately sold to Lyon in January 2017. His performances in France earned him a move to Barcelona and last season the 30-year-old represented Atletico Madrid but he shall be departing the La Liga club at the end of this month.
