Hamilton Accies boss John Rankin doesn’t expect to make any deadline-beating signings tonight, but says the club are working hard to bring in reinforcements.Rankin says deals were agreed with Connor Smith and Owen Moffat, who declined the offer to come to the League One club.Accies can still sign loan players until the end of September, and that might be the next avenue for Rankin, or moves for players who are out of contract.Rankin says there is no truth in rumours linking the club with a move for midfielder Ali Crawford, who has been told he can leave St Johnstone. But it remains to be seen if Sheffield United come in with a bid to prise away striker Ryan One.

Rankin told Lanarkshire Live Sport : “I’m not as hopeful of getting somebody in, the deadline is going to come too early. “We did have a couple of offers accepted for players, or deals to clubs accepted, and the player has turned it own, so that’s obviously disappointing.“But we have been working hard to try and get things done.”On Crawford, Rankin said: “I don’t know anything about it, I haven’t spoken to the player or his agent, so that is maybe rumours or from supporters, because I know Ali was a fans’ favourite when he was here.“There is nothing I know of in that, at this moment in time.”One piece of good news, however, is that defender Jamie Hamilton has successfully undergone quad surgery and has finally got to the bottom of an injury that kept him out of action for well over a year.Rankin says the 21-year-old is still looking at being out for “five or six months,” but he is in a better place. He said: “I’m delighted we’ve got to the bottom of it and glad the kid has clarity on what he needs to do to get back fit.“Hopefully we can get him through his rehab
