A restaurant manager has been left furious after four diners took off without paying their £215 bill on Father's Day.The two couples, who had a baby and a toddler with them, visited The Fisherman's Arms in Newlyn, near Penzance.

They enjoyed a three-course Sunday roast with cocktails and also ordered food for their two youngsters. However, after finishing their meal, they were caught on CCTV leaving the eatery without footing the bill.

Speaking to the Mirror, pub manager Lucy said one of the men approached the bar and asked how much they owed. She said: "One of them came up to the bar, had a look at the bill and said the women were in the toilet.

He said they were going out for a cigarette and would come back to settle up, but they left. "The women weren't in the toilet, they had already left." Lucy said this is the first time that the pub, which only opened seven months ago, has suffered a dine and dash. She added: "They are not from round here, you want to trust people, but this wasn't an accidental walk off."You can see one of the men shushing the other as they walk away on the CCTV."The pub had tweeted earlier in the day to let customers know their head chef was preparing the Sunday roast, available at tables overlooking the harbour.A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police are aware of an incident where it is alleged that a group of people left The Fisherman’s Arms in Newlyn without paying their bill, late afternoon on Sunday June 18."Enquiries continue into this matter.
