A grandad whose home was under siege by balaclava wearing intruders knifed one of them in the back after the 'police did nothing' a court has heard.

Stephen Dixon, 58, took in his grandson Kingsley Cairns when he was released from prison and had nowhere to go but in return, Dixon and his wife, were terrorised in their home in a feud between their grandson and another family, Preston Crown Court heard.

In March this year, Cairns was stabbed at the home in Ribbleton, when attackers managed to get into the house, LancsLive reports. Ian Metcalfe, defending, told the court that after this, the 'terrorism escalated at a pace', with Dixon's car damaged and a brick thrown through the window.
