Including a certain healthy snack in your daily diet can help reduce your risk of a "silent killer" health condition.High blood pressure can be dangerous, despite the health issue often not causing any symptoms.

High blood pressure can lead to heart attacks and strokes, with one in three people across the UK suffering with the condition. Also known as hypertension, there are thought to be around five million people Brits currently living with the condition without receiving an official diagnosis.

Despite many being unaware they suffer with the condition, there are ways to reduce risk, with some of the healthy habits pretty easy to stick to, reports the Mirror.According to a 2022 study carried out by scientists in Holland, eating foods high in potassium can help cancel out the impact of high sodium levels that can lead to high blood pressure.

The findings suggest that the impact was particularly successful in women. The study, published in the European Heart Journal, analysed data from almost 25,000 British people, participants who regularly ate potassium-rich foods were found to have a 13 per cent less chance of suffering a heart attack or stroke.Bananas are high in potassium, meaning that eating this healthy snack could help you lower your hypertension risk and therefore your risk of heart attacks and stroke.
