The Foreign Office has issued a new urgent travel warning for 18 countries, including popular Mediterranean holiday destinations.
The government's latest advisory cautions travellers about an increased risk of terrorist attacks in countries around the southern Mediterranean and the Middle East due to heightened tensions following recent events in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
Issued overnight, the Foreign Office update warns: "There is rising tension between Iran and Israel. Any military action could escalate quickly and could pose risks for the wider region.
If you are in the region, or considering travel to the region, monitor news updates and continue to check FCDO travel advice for updates." Countries highlighted in the alert include tourist favourites such as the United Arab Emirates, which encompasses Dubai, Morocco, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, and Tunisia.
