Manchester United 'join Chelsea' in the race for RB Leipzig star and other transfer rumours
manchestereveningnews.co.ukManchester United and Chelsea are reportedly battling it out to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba. Lukeba made his senior international debut for France last year in a friendly against Scotland but has since been dropped back into the French U23s setup.
However, it is in the Bundesliga where the 21-year-old has caught the eye. He has made 37 appearances for Leipzig so far this campaign but has only recently become a regular in his side's starting XI.
Since the beginning of March, Lukeba has lasted the full 90 minutes in six out of seven matches and has made the position his own. It is understood the centre-back has a €70m (£60.1m) release clause in his current deal but both the Reds and Chelsea are reluctant to reach that at this stage.
