Fire crews on roof of Renfrewshire restaurant amid blaze drama

A bar and restaurant in Renfrewshire went up in flames this morning. Nearby residents woke to see smoke billowing from the roof of Grill in the Park in Erskine.Six fire engines were sent to extinguish the blaze.

Fire crews were at the scene and Park Drive was closed to traffic. Firefighters described attending to find a “well-developed fire” at the building.Nobody is currently thought to have been injured as a result of the incident.

Ian Clarke lives opposite the bar and said he could smell the smoke as soon as he woke up today. He called the emergency services as soon as he realised what was happening."I smelt smoke when I got up at 8am," he told the Paisley Daily Express earlier today. "I saw it was coming from the Grill in the Park so phoned the fire service who arrived as I was still on the phone."Since then, more smoke, more fire engines and the police have arrived.
