The streets of Manchester are set to be lined with hundreds of people voicing their support for women's rights this weekend.
Scores of people advocating for women will join the annual Walk for Women event in the city centre on Saturday afternoon (March 4) to celebrate International Women's Day next week.
The walk will return this year following an impressive turnout in 2022 - after a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, and is an opportunity to come together with family and friends, colleagues and strangers, to celebrate a shared passion for equality and creating opportunities for women in Manchester. READ MORE: The weird and wonderful rubbish found in Manchester canal as it gets clean-up Organised by Manchester Council, the march will begin outside Manchester Cathedral on Victoria Street, meeting at 12noon for a 12.30pm start.
It will snake through the city centre, ending up outside Central Library in St Peter's Square. The length of the walk is approximately 1.11km, with rest stops along the way and dropped kerbs for wheelchair access.
