Former East Kilbride winger Kevin Wilson regularly rubs shoulders with former football superstars including Edgar Davids, Eric Abidal and Nicolas Anelka while playing for an amateur team in Dubai.Wilson, 34, jokes that playing football in the United Arab Emirates is the only reason he stays fit, while working for a real estate company and living a varied life in Dubai.Dubai Allstars play in the Dubai Amateur Men’s Football League (DAMFL) and it has brought him close to some impressive former players.Wilson said: “I still play and I’ve been a manager over here for the last four years at a team called Dubai Allstars.“I’ve played against Eric Abidal, Edgar Davids, Mikael Silvestre and Nicolas Anelka.“Our team last year, we had Christian Wilhelmsson playing for us, who has got 78 caps for Sweden.“Christian is 42, but he trains every week, he’s there first.“The standard is good, you never lose your love for football, and people just want to keep playing.“The quality of the leagues is really good.“I train once a week and play 11s once a wee and sevens twice a week.“I don’t go to the gym or things like that, so it’s the only way I can stop myself from getting fat!”It hasn’t all been fun and games for Kevin though as he once suffered a QUADRUPLE leg break whilst playing against former Barcelona star Abidal.Wilson recalled: “It was our last game of the season, a meaningless game, where we were already guaranteed third place finish in our first year in the DAMFL after winning the league below.“Just before half time, my studs got caught in the turf and I ended up with a quadruple leg break, 20 screws, two plates, two ops and 18 months out.“I got a photo with Eric after.“He just wished me luck and told me to keep my spirits up.“I
