DWP announces another cost of living boost for millions of poorer families
manchestereveningnews.co.ukVulnerable families across England will receive additional support from their local councils thanks to a £842m extension to the Household Support Fund.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) announced that the extra funding will be provided to families via grants and will be available from April 1.
Local authorities will allocate the money to target and help those that need it the most until the end of March 2024. The scheme was initially launched in October 2021 as part of the Prime Minister's pledge to help poor families cover their essential living expenses.
The distribution of the funding is targeted at the areas of the country with the most vulnerable households. "This is just one part of our extensive and targeted £26 billion support package, which includes payments worth £900 for millions of people on benefits and additional support for disabled people and pensioners, whilst every household will continue to save money thanks to our Energy Price Guarantee.” In order to begin receiving money from the scheme, applicants must first contact their local authority which you can find using the government website.
