A woman was taken to hospital after a fierce blaze at a block of flats. Images from the scene show flames and thick smoke pouring out from windows on both sides of the residential building in the Coppice area of Oldham on Friday afternoon.

Reports claim people living in the complex managed to get out before Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended at around 3.20pm.

But it's been confirmed that a woman was taken to hospital by paramedics for 'precautionary checks' after inhaling smoke.
