A Scot has been banned from owning dogs for two years, after leaving his pet to starve and drink of out a water bowl that was coloured green with algae.
The SSPCA visited the home of Allan Graham, from Wishaw, after a complaint was received about the poor body condition of his Staffordshire bull terrier cross named Bruiser.
Inspectors found Bruiser to be so underweight that his ribs, spine, and hip bones were protruding. He also had poor posture and was found to be very quiet in his demeanour.A bowl of water on the floor of the property had become coloured green with algae, the inspectors found.
Graham told the inspectors he had been trying to help the dog gain weight by feeding him pasta as well as his normal diet. Bruiser was removed from the Muirhouse Avenue property, amid concerns for his welfare and taken to a vet surgery for an examination.
