Winger Daizen Maeda insists he didn't realise that celebrating with Celtic fans after a goal against Rangers would land him a booking. The Japan international saw off the attention of James Tavernier to whip a dangerous ball in from the left flank before John Lundstram stuck a leg out to deflected the ball into his own net.
Having watched the Rangers' man put the ball beyond Jack Butland, Maeda ran towards the crowd and jumped into the arms of a steward before being mobbed by the home support.Referee Willie Collum took a dim view of the celebration and brandished a yellow card to the forward - but Maeda has shrugged off the booking on social media as he insists he was clueless over the rule he had broken by turning to the punters.
Sharing a picture of the scenes on X, the Celtic hero wrote: "I didn't know that if you go up to the fans you get a yellow card!
Oh well!" But some Celtic fans have claimed that the incident shows double standards - after Cyriel Dessers avoided a similar booking during the 3-3 draw at Ibrox last month.
