A grieving dad claims he has been “left in the dark” after his daughter died from a blood clot in hospital. Paul Black's daughter Nicole Black passed away suddenly at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley on June 10, 2022, while she was being treated for a flare up of chronic gastroparesis. The 29-year-old had been admitted 33 times since 2021 and was regularly given blood thinners due to the condition leaving her bed bound for several days.

She also had a central line fitted into her thigh to help administer fluids, which left her at risk of developing Deep Vein Thrombosis. But in June last year, Nicole’s family received a phone call at 6am telling them their daughter had gone into cardiac arrest.

She was later declared brain dead after a blood clot travelled from the site of a central line in her leg causing an embolism. Her life support was switched off just days later.

But 17 months on, dad Paul, 56, says he is still fighting for answers while the family is waiting for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to provide the results of a Serious Adverse Event - which should have been finished in May.Speaking to the Record, the father-of-three, from Erskine, said: “It’s been more than a year since Nicole died and we’re still in the dark.
