Creative Arts Emmys is underway at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles. The ceremony will focus on scripted programming.
Dominating the overall nominations is FX’s “Shogun” with a tally of 25 nods. The show’s composer Atticus Ross will share a trophy with brother Leopold Ross and co-composer Nick Chuba – a win will put Ross a Tony Award away from achieving EGOT status.
A win for songwriters and musicians Benj Pasek and Justin Paul in the original song category for their “Only Murders in the Building” earworm “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?” would make the duo the 20th and 21st artists to land in the elusive EGOT club – they already have Oscar, Tony and Grammy Awards.
Oscar-winning cinematographer Robert Elswit is a top contender for limited series cinematography for his work on Netflix’s “Ripley.” Also being announced tonight will be the guest acting Emmy nominations.
