'Cooker' thrown from 11th floor of Scots flats as police race to scene

A man has been charged after "a cooker" was allegedly thrown from the 11th floor of a set of flats in Edinburgh.Emergency services raced to Calder Crescent in the Bankhead area after the alarm was raised at around 10.30pm on Sunday.

Officers were responding to reports of "items being thrown out of a window". An eyewitness told Edinburgh Live that a cooker was launched from the flat.

A picture taken from the scene showed items including cushions and debris strewn outside the building while two police officers stood guard.

A 56-year-old man has since been arrested and charged in connection to the incident. He was due to appear at the Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday.
