Detective John Sugar is coming back. Apple has renewed Colin Farrell-led drama series Sugar for a second season. The first season of the detective drama saw Farrell’s Sugar, a private investigator hired by Hollywood titan Jonathan Siegel, played by James Cromwell, investigate the mysterious disappearance of his granddaughter, Olivia, played by Sydney Chandler. [SPOILER ALERT] The twist?

He’s an alien (one of his skills is processing alcohol 50 times faster than humans). Amy Ryan, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, Alex Hernandez and Kirby, formerly known as Kirby Howell-Baptiste, also starred in season one.

Season two will see Sugar find himself back in Los Angeles taking on another missing person’s case, as he continues to look for answers surrounding his missing sister.

The series was created by Mark Protosevich, who has written movies including I Am Legend and The Cell. He was also showrunner of season one but has been replaced by Sam Catlin, who was previously showrunner of AMC’s Preacher, for season two.
