Charlie Murphy Talks Playing Anna in 'Obsession,' Why She Kept a Distance from Richard Armitage, & More

The 34-year-old Irish actress is best known for her work in the BBC series Happy Valley and has also been seen in Peaky Blinders and the new Halo series. Charlie chatted with The Independent and talked about meeting her co-star and intimate scene partner Richard Armitage for the first time at the chemistry read. Keep reading to find out more… “He fed me a few olives and then we shook hands and said goodbye,” she said. Charlie said she and Richard kept a distance from each other at first to emulate the relationship their characters were having.
Then they spent a week together filming those intimate moments. “It was a nice parallel because no one else had witnessed it except this very close crew, so after that we had these loaded looks in our public scenes together: eating dinner, touching hair and all that.
We’d experienced our world already,” she said. Charlie also talked about working with an intimacy coordinator for those steamy scenes. “So often you’re drawing from yourself, so that can feel icky,” she said. “It’s like saying, ‘OK, get up there and do a dance’.
