Haley Lu Richardson is opening up about why she passed on starring in Midsommar. The White Lotus actress revealed in a new interview with Backstage that she was offered the role of Dani, which was played by Florence Pugh.

Reflecting on turning it down, Haley Lu opened up about the reasons she passed on it. Keep reading to find out more… Speaking with the magazine, Haley Lu shared that there are a handful of roles that “got away” from her, and then focused in on Midsommer, saying she was sent a script for the movie. “I remember reading it; it was such a well-written, creepy script.

I actually still haven’t seen the movie because I kind of can’t bring myself to watch it,” she shared, adding that “they wanted to meet me.” However, Haley Lu added that it was because of Split that she actually turned it down. “I had actually done Split, I think, a year or two before [in 2016].

And I was like, ‘I don’t want to do another disturbing movie right now. I just don’t have it in me, going around and crying at these disturbing things.’ It wasn’t something that I wanted, and I felt really strongly about that.
