A care home in Wigan has been ordered to improve following a recent inspection. Nugent Community Choices' site known as ‘The Orchards’, based in Billinge, was deemed to have ‘not always’ managed medicines safely.

Inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) noticed there had been errors in administering drugs as well as record keeping.

The Orchards is a supported living service to assist individuals living with learning difficulties to build friendships, develop skills and improve their quality of life. Their actual care and their responsiveness at the facility were praised by inspectors. Out of the five total criteria points, the categories of safe, effective and well-led were deemed to be ‘Requires Improvement’ - meaning that became their overall rating.
