Car torched by late-night firebug in quiet Lanarkshire street

A police probe has been launched after a car was deliberately torched in a quiet residential street in East Kilbride.The alarm was raised in Deep Dale in the Stewartfield area shortly after midnight on Friday, January 13, where an estate car parked outside bungalows was "well alight".Police are now treating the incident as wilful fireraising.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

We were really shocked to find out it was a deliberate act as this is such a quiet street, you never see a soul coming through here."A fire crew was alerted to the scene at 12.10am and extinguished the blaze within the hour.No one was injured and the burnt-out vehicle was removed.A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 00.07am on Friday, January 13, to reports of a vehicle well alight fire on Deep Dale, East Kilbride.“Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance and firefighters extinguished the fire affecting one car.“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”This latest incident comes three months
