Cambuslang Rangers' home clash against Troon was abandoned in the first half this afternoon following a horror injury to Kyle Maxwell. The West of Scotland League Premier Division clash was poised at 0-0 at the time, 11 minutes into the game, when Maxwell went down injured, having dislocated his knee.Referee Chris Gentles tried to play on, as players and officials waited at Somervell Park for an ambulance to take the stricken player to Hairmyres Hospital. But when it became clear there was going to be too much of a delay, the game was called off.Co-boss Billy Campbell said: "We had to wait an hour and a half for the ambulance."He's caught his studs on the grass, dislocated his knee, basically, and we couldn't move him so the game got abandoned."To be fair to the ref, he tried to give it 40 minutes, get the boys back out and warmed up, but the ambulance didn't come and we ran out of time."It looks like his knee has gone out and popped back in, but it's all the ligament damage round about it now that will be the worry."It was the right decision to abandon the game.

Everybody was in the same mind-set."You could go and play the rest of the game but you're not going to be in the right frame of mind.

You've just seen your player stretchered off, and it was the right decision all round from both management teams and the referee."It's just how long the poor boy is out for, now."Follow Lanarkshire Live Sport onTwitter via@LanLiveSport, like us onFacebookor find us onInstagramfor the latest sports news, pictures and video.
