Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell admits his side “lost a six-pointer” as they fell to a heavy defeat against relegation rivals Petershill on Saturday.Petershill are now five points clear of Camby in third-bottom spot of the West of Scotland Premier Division, with the Lanarkshire side bottom.Although Campbell’s side have four games in hand over Petershill, he admits losing this one was a major blow to their survival prospects.Defender Alan Reid saw red for two bookings before Peasy took the lead, which they then doubled.Ben Richford pulled a goal back for the visitors, but when Petershill went 3-1 up, Campbell says the wheels came off.Though Nicky Fraser bagged a debut goal, the Springburn side ran out comfortable winners – and high-flying Darvel are up next at Somervell Park.Campbell said: “It was an opportunity for us to try and retain, and climb the table a couple of positions, and we just never played well.“It was a ‘six-point’ game for us.

If we had managed to secure the win, results had gone our way, and I just couldn’t accept how badly we played.“It’s the first time for a while that I’ve come off and been extremely disappointed in how we played.“We didn’t play well in the first half.

Petershill looked sharper, fitter, like they wanted it more, and we then got a sending-off, which put us up against it as well.“We went in 2-0 down, had a chat with them, and went out in the second half, played the way we should have and got a goal.“But we then lost another goal relatively quickly, and that basically took us out of it – you’re not going to score three goals after that to get the win.“The truth of the matter is that we got what we deserved, and nobody could have questioned that.“But it’s football.
