Cadbury has made a significant alteration to its Christmas selection boxes, and chocoholics are not happy. The beloved confectionery brand has downsized its classic Santa Selection Box by removing the a best loved snack and replacing it with a caramel Freddo, which is roughly half the size.

Consumer expert Martyn James labelled the swap of the Double Decker for a caramel Freddo as an "outrageous example of shrinkflation." "A Freddo is the lowliest of chocs and is not a fair swap for the majestic Double Decker," he expressed.

Speaking to The Sun, he also claimed that Cadbury - the company behind favourites like Dairy Milk, Twirl, Wispa, Double Decker, Fudge, Freddo and more - had "ruined" the festive favourite. This year's Cadbury Christmas selection box weighs just 125g compared to last year's 145g box.

According to reports, the selection boxes are now a quarter smaller than they were in 2018 when they weighed 169g. In addition to this, they have also increased their prices.
