Stevie Pittman heaped praise on his Broxburn players after a dominant victory over Cowdenbeath on Saturday took them fifth in the Lowland League. The Brox gaffer watched his players swat the Blue Brazil aside at Albyn Park with first half strikes from Errol Douglas and Nicke Locke, before quick-fire goals from Jon Page and Scott McCrory-Irving at the start of the second half made sure of the points. And it was perfect preparation for Friday night's Scottish Cup tie against Dalkeith.

Pittman beamed: “I thought the boys were excellent on Saturday.“In the first 20 minutes there was nothing in the game but then it seemed to open up for us and the boys were right at it.“We went in 2-0 up at half-time then we got two goals in five minutes at the start of the second half, and the game was done.

We played really well and we got everything we were looking for from the boys.“Cowdenbeath never really caused us any problems and we were clinical.“We managed to get a lot of subs on and everybody managed to play a part.

It was pleasing.”It was another so-called scalp against one of the established names in the Lowland League, having also downed Albion Rovers, Cumbernauld Colts and Broomhill earlier in the campaign.Broxburn now sit five points off of leaders Caledonian Braves, who they face on Tuesday night in Motherwell after travelling to Dalkeith in the first round of the Scottish Cup on Friday.Pittman added: “The boys keep on pulling out results.“They have got a great, never-say-die attitude and if they are all at it, I fancy us against most teams.
