British actor 'formally offered' new James Bond role ahead of upcoming film

A British actor has reportedly been offered the role to be the next James Bond and will be signing a contract in the coming days.

Speculation has been rife over who would take over the legendary 007 part since Daniel Craig said he would be leaving the franchise.

Now Marvel Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is said to have beaten stiff competition and will be taking over from Craig after impressing producers, reports the Mirror.Cillian Murphy was a hot contender but last week insisted that he's 'too old' to play the role, shooting down feverish excitement surrounding the Oscar-winning star becoming the next 007.

The Irish actor, 47, was reportedly top of film bosses lists after his incredible portrayal of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan's masterpiece.Peaky Blinders actor Cillian impressed bosses so much after his BAFTA-winning performance that they were 'desperate' for him to take on the legendary role which was previously filled by fellow Irish actor Pierce Brosnan, as well as Sean Connery, and Roger Moore.
