Britain's 31C heatwave to end - with wind, rain and GALES on the way, warns BBC star

Yesterday saw scorching weather across much of the UK as the summer heatwave went up a gear - with 31C temperatures delivering the hottest day of the year so far.The village of Wisley in Surrey took the prize as Britain's warmest village as Brits were left scrambling for their fans and ice-cold drinks.

But as BBC weather forecaster Stav Danaos has warned, things are about to change.The temperatures will take a dive as the warm and humid air that left people stampeding to their local parks is pushed out to continental Europe - and winds start blowing in.

He explained: "That's the last of these sorts of temperatures for now. It does look like for the rest of the week and into he weekend it's going to be turning fresher for all areas and the winds will be picking up as well." And things will change as soon as this evening, as Stav explained: "It will be a very blustery and to the day for Thursday.

But despite temperatures dropping to around 10-12 degrees on Friday morning, that doesn't mean it's not going to be a nice, with lighter winds the further south in the UK you are and wind affecting Scotland and the north more than the south.
