Glastonbury 2024: Coldplay debut new song with Little Simz

Coldplay have debuted a new song with Little Simz tonight at Glastonbury 2024.The band, who tonight (June 29) played their record-breaking fifth headline slot at the Pyramid Stage, along with Friday’s headliner Dua Lipa, have become one of the first acts to have their Glastonbury sets streamed globally.They had plenty of surprises in store to mark the occasion, and brought out Little Simz to debut the new track midway through their set.

Joined onstage by Elyanna, the VT showed clips of Burna Boy as they performed.Although the title of the song is as yet unknown, it’s rumoured to be titled ‘Supernova’, and features the line: “And so we pray” throughout its chorus.Burna Boy and Little Simz performing a new song with @coldplay at Glastonbury#ColdplayGlastonbury— Coldplay Access (@coldplayaccess) June 29, 2024Before the rapper stepped out on stage, the band had cycled through huge hits like ‘Yellow’ and a live-orchestra backed version of ‘The Scientist’, as well as bringing out Victoria Canal for ‘Paradise’.The new track is thought to be from the upcoming ‘Moon Music’ album, which they teased back in January was nearly finished, while describing it as a “second Music Of The Spheres volume.”Frontman Martin discussed the pressures of releasing new music with NME in 2021, when he noted how “intense” it was be to keep releasing fresh music.“We’re going to make 12 albums.

Because it’s a lot to pour everything into making them. I love it and it’s amazing, but it’s very intense too,” he said. “I feel like because I know that challenge is finite, making this music doesn’t feel difficult, it feels like, ‘This is what we’re supposed to be doing’.”He added: “I don’t think that’s what we’ll do.
