Christian Borle Replaces Andrew Rannells in Broadway's 'Tammy Faye' After Contract Negotiations Fell Through
justjared.comAndrew Rannells was planning on reprising his role as Jim Bakker in the new Broadway musical Tammy Faye, but he dropped out after contract negotiations fell through.
It was just announced that Christian Borle will replace Andrew in the production, joining UK theatre star Katie Brayben in the show. Andrew originated the role in the London production and he confirmed he left the show while attending the Tony Awards a couple weeks ago. Elton John, who composed the music with Jake Shears, has released a statement on the casting. Keep reading to find out more… “Christian is one of Broadway’s most exciting leading men and I am beyond thrilled that he will be joining the company of TAMMY FAYE,” Elton said. “I know Christian will perfectly capture both the humor and the darkness written into the role and I, along with the rest of the creative team, cannot wait to see him and Katie bring this unforgettable couple to life this fall.” Andrew and Christian previously worked together in the 2016 revival of Falsettos, for which they both earned Tony nominations.
