A Scots mum has spoken of her pride in her teenage son, who spent the first three years of his life in hospital, after being diagnosed with a rare heart condition in the womb.
William Kilpatrick was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot before his birth.The teen, who also has Di-George syndrome and Autism, has been an ongoing patient at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow throughout his life.
He has recently been given a 'Young Achiever' award from the NHS for his courage in the face of adversity. The 14-year-old ,from Castlemilk, requires day-to-day medical care to keep him alive.
Mum Kat Waddell told Glasgow Live she decided to name him William after William Wallace, as he is "her Braveheart".William spent the first three years of his life in and out of Yorkhill Hospital after being diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot, which causes a number of problems with the heart, while he was in the womb at 27 weeks.
