Body believed to be Sarah Henshaw discovered following murder enquiry

A body believed to be Sarah Henshaw was discovered this afternoon (June 26). Police said officers attended a layby off the westbound carriageway of the A617, close to junction 29 of the M1 just after 12am.

Sarah's family have been made aware of the discovery and are being supported by specialist officers. It comes after police launched a murder investigation following reports on Friday, June 23 that Sarah had not been seen since 9pm on Tuesday, June 20 at her home in Norman Street, Ilkeston.

A man was arrested on suspicion of the 31-year-old's murder and he remains in police custody while a warrant of further detention has been authorised so officers have more time to question him. Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have footage of a blue Ford Transit van around the area of junction 29 of the M1 and the A617 in Chesterfield in the early hours of Wednesday June 21.

A Derbyshire Police statement said: “Just after 12am on Monday June 26 officers attended a layby off the westbound carriageway of the A617, close to junction 29 of the M1, where a body believed to be Sarah was discovered.
