A Scottish walk with "exceptional Highlands scenery" has been named as one of the best in the UK.As May begins properly and with summer just around the corner, more and more Scots will be thinking about getting out of the house for a picturesque walk in the great outdoors.

When it comes to walking and hiking trails all over the country, the options are endless. However, if you are looking for inspiration, The Telegraph has just named the 15 "greatest circular walks" in Britain.

Among the trails featured on the list is Loch Affric in Highlands.Described as being the "best for glorious glens", the 18-kilometre route starts and ends at the River Affric car park and takes you anticlockwise around the tranquil freshwater loch.

Classed as "moderate to challenging" in difficulty, the newspaper said it is "doable by anyone with a bit of stamina".Among the highlights of the walk is the Caledonian pine forest where Bonnie Prince Charlie reportedly hid in 1745 following the Battle of Culloden.
