A shabby old storage box, picked up for a mere £12 turned out to be a rare Louis Vuitton treasure with a staggering valuation on Antiques Roadshow.

Guests on the BBC One show are often staggered when they learn the true value of items they've stashed away at home or even had in everyday use.

An anonymous dad revealed he snagged the trunk back in 1984 as a moving-in gift for his daughter when she was getting her first flat.

He found the gem at a bric-a-brac shop in St Margarets, near Twickenham, London, thinking it would be perfect for his daughter Melissa's storage needs.
