Atalanta have upped their offer for Matt O'Riley, according to a report. The Europa League winners are determined to land the Celtic star and have already seen a structured £15million offer booted out by the Premiership champions, which would have seen the Serie A outfit stump up £12.6million up front with a further £2.5million in add-ons.

Now Fabrizio Romano claims €18m bid has been made, although that's unlikely to tempt Celtic into selling. However, negotiations are ongoing and a further increase in cash could yet see O'Riley head to Italy. Record Sport revealed that English Premier League new boys Southampton are readying a £20million raid to tempt O'Riley south, but Atalanta are keen to steal a march on their English rivals and can offer O'Riley another shot at the Champions League to further trump the Saints.

Reports in Italy previously claimed that O'Riley would be "interested" in a switch to Italy. Any cash raised from selling O'Riley could help Brendan Rodgers in his pursuit of Adam Idah.

The Norwich striker spent last season on loan with the Hoops but the Canaries are thought to be holding out for £8m to let the striker leave permanently.O'Riley's replacement may already be on the way too.
