The Express reports that one keen gardener took to the Loving Your Garden Facebook page after hearing that leftover banana peels can be useful for helping plants grow.
They wrote: I have some over-ripe bananas and heard they are good for some plants. Any advice please?”Banana skins can be an excellent natural fertiliser, as they're rich in potassium which helps flowers to bloom.
Phosphorous helps to strengthen plant roots, and magnesium is good for photosynthesis.Members of the Facebook group were quick to suggest what kind of plants to use the banana peels on, but two suggestions - tomato plants and roses - were the most common.
