Aldi shoppers have hit out at the budget retailer for charging nearly £3.50 for a bag of crisps. The supermarket, known for being the UK's cheapest, came under fire on social media after advertising one of its Middle Aisle specials this week.

The retailer is selling the popular Mexican snack Takis, rolled up tortilla chips that come in a range of spicy flavours. The tangy crisps are hugely popular in the United States and videos about the viral snack have been viewed billions of times on TikTok. But shoppers have blasted the supermarket, describing the price as 'extortionate'. Many pointed out that the same snacks are currently on sale in Morrisons and Iceland for just £3 for a 180g bag.

Co-op also sells the crisps for £2 for a 100g bag. Customers, who are used to grabbing bargains from the supermarket's famous middle aisle, said the snacks would be staying put on the shelves at £3.49 a bag. "HOW MUCH???
